With 7.3 percent of the U.S population identifying as vegetarian and 11.9 percent interested in going veggie you will need to have a vegetarian option at your events, but be careful there are many types of vegetarians:
Vegans are the traditional version: they do not eat any animal, fish or poultry meat, dairy products, eggs nor animal byproducts.
Lacto vegetarians: they abstain from eating meet and eggs but eat dairy products.
Ovo- vegetarians: they do not eat meat nor dairy products but will eat eggs.
Lacto-ovo-vegetarians: they also abstain from meat but include eggs and dairy products in their diets.
And even your attendees who eat meat could enjoy a flavorful vegetarian dish. Here are 6 things you must make sure your vegetarian dishes include:
1- Alterna-Protein: Vegetarian meals don’t need to be exclusively of vegetables. You could use tofu or other meat substitutes.
2- Use a little or a lot of spices: Go beyond the salt-pepper routine experimenting with different spices.
3 – Build Deep, Dark Flavors: Use techniques like roasting or caramelizing veggies.
4- Use all the colors: Include different color in your dish, so you can have tasty and instagrammable meal.
5- Don’t be afraid of Fat: You can use butter or nuts.
6- Hearty whole grains: use them to keep your attendees satisfied and full after a meal.
