08 Oct Dealing with stressful times as a Meeting Planner

As a meeting planner, I’m sure you’ve experienced crazy times, especially right before the event. You’re used to multitasking and keeping a busy schedule but sometimes stress can be hard to manage.
Alice Boyes has pretty good tips to handle busy times at work in her article “How to Get Trough an Extremely Busy Time at Work” (https://bit.ly/2YtOgth) Here are some of them:

1. Premack’s principle
Its about switching between a harder behavior and an easier behavior, using the easier one as a reward. This way you give your brain a chance to recharge while keeping productive. For example, switching between planning and an errand.

2. Compartmentalize
Enjoy the tasks you’re doing, be mindful about what’s the part you most enjoy out of it so you can keep your concentration on the task instead of elsewhere.

3. Mental Rest
Take quick breaks to actually disconnect from the work you’re doing. If you’re getting a cup of coffee use the time to rest instead of thinking about the tasks you need to complete.

4. Pairing pleasure experiences with other activities
If you’re working hard, there’s no harm in playing your favorite music while doing it, or listening to a podcast, having your favorite snack, etc. You’ll keep being productive while enjoying yourself.

Not every meeting planner works the same way, so take the tips that work better for you and use them.
Please share some techniques you may have to deal with stressful times. We would love to read about it!
