10 Jan Inclusivity is a must in your events

Having an inclusive event means giving attendees options to feel welcome and comfortable. Inclusivity is a broad topic. There are a lot of things to consider, such as allergies, disabilities, preferences and many sensitive issues. As issues are broad solutions are too. They can be little details or big gestures. And could be seen through different stages of the event.

Meetings net talks about their 20 tips for inclusive events in their October article. Here are a few of them:

1- When selecting a venue always do a site visit. You could even take someone from a local disability organization to make sure the venue is friendly for people with different capabilities.

2-Make inclusive statements throughout your communications so everyone feels welcome.

3- Event Design: Consider the whole environment as an experience. Notice sound levels and lighting choices.

4- Display the list of ingredients for meals and snacks in case of any dietary restriction or allergy.

5- Integrate attendees with mobility issues into the event and not in a wheelchair roe.

6- Book activities that give attendees new perspectives.

7- Create spaces for quiet time.

8- Don’t forget to start the conference with networking events, so people get to know each other and are more comfortable during the event.

9- Always smile. Nothing is more welcoming than a warm smile.
